Quire, Colchester's world music community choir, present a concert commemorating the end of World War One and featuring music and verse from around the world that reflects the triumph of the human spirit.

The 40 strong group will sing songs sung in the trenches as well as the work of women in the war. The evening will include familiar songs such as Stille Nacht (Silent Night) and Red Flag - originally sung to the tune of O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree). Only Remembered featured recently in the production War Horse but was written in the 1890's and is widely used in remembrance to those who fell in the Great War. The programme will include songs from more recent conflicts reflecting the international nature of Quire's repertoire and providing a contrast will be songs sung in the Music Halls of the era. Audience participation will be encouraged and there'll be the opportunity to sing along with It's a Long Way to Tipperary, Keep the Home Fires Burning and Pack Up Your Troubles.
